  1. I am a "Golden Girls" fan. I watch the show in the morning and at night when possible, to start and end my day with a laugh. If a marathon is on and I'm at home, I'll watch. I can probably quote the episodes by heart too.

So I am just heartbroken by the recent death of Bea Arthur. Dorothy was one of my favorite characters on the show. The entertainment industry has lost someone special. As for comedy, I would personally place her in the same conversations as Lucille Ball. Both women had a flare for delivering lines and capturing the true essence of humorous moments.

Bea Arthur's comedic timing was ingenious. Not only was she a comedian, but through her acting, she was able to address taboo topics such as ageism and abortion. She was an all-around talent, both on Broadway and on screen. Who knew that such a shy and insecure young girl (who was 5'10 I think by the time she was in the 6th grade) would become one of the most notoriously quick-witted comedians of her time.

I know the Good Lord is laughing and enjoying the company of both Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur. Bea Arthur certainly provided golden moments that will forever shine on screen. I pray for peace and comfort for her family and friends during this time.
